Compression

ALL ABOUT COMPRESSION

WHY IS IT ESSENTIAL AFTER SURGERY?

Following most surgical procedures, such as burn treatment, cosmetic, plastic, reconstructive or orthopedic surgery, it is recommended to wear a specific garment that applies an ideal level of compression to the treated area. This ensures optimal results while providing a better post-operative experience.

Compression will ensure proper blood circulationreduce inflammation, prevent edema and fluid retention that can sometimes take several weeks to resolve.

It is this accumulation of fluids in addition to tension or soreness that is troublesome and can interfere with the healing process. Wearing a post-operative compression garment will help maintain the tissues, which will facilitate healing while allowing better mobility and posture. It can be difficult for liposuction patients, for example, to stand up straight for long periods of time because of the swelling around the tissue. Wearing an abdominal belt or compression garment can give the patient a better range of motion. As you slowly return to your daily routine, it will be easier to get around while wearing medical compression garments. In returns, this allows the treated areas to retain their new shape and ensure post-operative safety.

COUNTERACTING THE WAVE EFFECT, SWELLING AND THE RISK OF WRINKLES

Wearing the right type of compression garment for the specified period of time can reduce post-operative swelling and minimize the risk of rippling or wrinkling (when the patient sits for a long time) around the treated area. These effects usually do not disappear on their own. Compression garments can prevent the development of these defects and achieve more visible aesthetic results.

As a leader and pioneer in this field, Le Papillon Couture has conducted a series of clinical studies to propose the optimum compression of all its garments depending on the type of procedure.
